| About the ROSS Training System |
|
The ROSS Training System (the Russian Native System of Self-Defense) is a
part of fighting culture of the Russian people. This is the national
property and pride of the Russian Fatherland! Basically, it takes into
account natural laws and, consequently, it is a living system. Similar to
nature, being complete and self-sufficient, it continuously changes and
develops, absorbing in itself all of the most valuable and the best.
|
|
In a deep relationship with the history of the Russian people, ROSS is
unique. Its quality general physical preparations and warm-ups are actively
used in a way that is similar to the ancient dancing movements that the
Russians' ancestors used. These were done not only for entertainment and for
relaxation after a hard day of work, but also for the acquisition of skills
in working with cold steel, and for working on fighting and hunting skills.
|
| - |
the enrichment of natural
movement and skills; |
| - |
the multi-variability of
movement; |
| - |
a high efficiency of each
movement; |
| - |
the ordering of tactics and
skills; |
| - |
an increase in coordination; |
| - |
a greater ease and freedom in
movement; |
| - |
incomparable physical training;
and |
| - |
originality and uniqueness of
techniques. |
|
|
Additionally, through the study of national dances, creativity and
improvisation are stimulated in the course of training. Enrichment not
only occurs in the sphere of national culture in general, but also in
cultures of movement in particular. There is a process of knowledge of
the primordial culture of the people that undoubtedly and positively
affects both the individual and society as a whole.
|
|
In the ROSS Training System, applied acrobatics are actively used. They are
frequently applied to various combative situations, both as movement and as
independent or additional technical actions. The acrobatics promote the
formation of natural fighting skills.
|
| - |
They can be done at practically at any age and in any state of
health for both improvement and prevention;
|
| - |
They can be done in sports: in fights and in all kinds of
hand-to-hand combat and strength games; and |
| - |
They can also be used in any kind of fight.
|
|
|
Special ROSS exercises develop certain physical qualities and skills, and
they are also directly and are indirectly applicable in combat.
|
|
In the ROSS Training System, the moment of transition from one technique to
another is well developed — it is very natural and universal, simple and
effective. Many modern martial art schools suffer from the absence of such
transitions.
|
One
feature of the ROSS Training System consists also in the interaction
with an opponent, based on the knowledge and application of the laws of
biomechanics, physics, anatomy, and psychology. In particular, the
opponent can be manipulated by means of levers. A multi-variant approach
— when the same situation, for example, the grasp of a hand, can use ten
defensive or counterattacking actions. Multi-functionality is when the
same movement can be used in ten various situations. For example, an
exercise known as "Skrutka" is applicable to rolls, throws, releases,
strikes, defenses against throws, defenses to submissions and chokes,
and defenses to various kicks, strikes, weapon attacks, etc., etc. Thus,
it is necessary to know about richness used in the ROSS Training System
through its variety of "inclusive" exercises.
|
|
A variety of techniques that the ROSS Training System allows any combatant
to use can easy overcome any lack of techniques. The ROSS Training System is
a core on which any techniques can be based. The ROSS Training System urges
its practitioners not to retrain, but to supplement and improve.
|
|
In the ROSS Training System there is no such concept as a prescribed
technique. Variants of core movements depend on the circumstances and
conditions of their application. It excludes repetition of variations,
and that does not give to the opponent the possibility for advances
preparation in counter techniques. During a fight, core movements are
used continuously until the utter defeat or submission of the opponent
is realized, and each previous movement is the beginning of the next
movement.
|
|
Simplicity and availability, considerable economy of forces and energy,
unpredictability of carrying out of defensive actions, and informed
combat training variants all strengthen the psychological stability of
the fighter in extreme situations, which helps develops an intuitive
prediction of danger. It allows for combat to last a long time, even in
a weakened condition (deficiency of oxygen in blood, wounded, exhausted,
etc.) and and even at the clear superiority of the opponent.
|
|
In the ROSS Training System, skills for fighting in limited space (in
closed premises, dense wood, etc.) and skills for fighting in
sub-optimal conditions (in the water, on ice, etc.) are also developed.
|
|
The ROSS Training System differs from other systems in its non-standard
approach to the study of movement, in the absence of formal techniques,
and in its simplicity of execution.
|
|
As a whole, the Russian Native System of Self-Defense promotes a
creative approach and gives space and possibility for creativity to any
sincerely interested and thinking pupil. It also allows not only for the
development of special qualities inherent in fans of martial arts, but
also in intelligence and in the general culture of the individual.
